Book ‘Vaig dormir al carrer’ by Joan Roqueta

This book titled Vaig dormir al carrer [I Slept On The Street] compiles the conversations that the author shared with Manel N., Lute, Valerio, Manel G. and Gema. Five stories of people with different origins and circumstances who, for one reason or another, ended up sleeping on the street.

The goal of this book, says the author, is ‘to help change the general perception and preconceptions that we usually relate to the homeless, as well as prove that there is a really fine, and imperceptible, line between having an accomplished, comfortable, organized life and having it fall into a downward spiral in an unexpected, fast and almost violent way. In a matter of just weeks, to go from having a name, maybe social recognition and stable human relationships to living in the most absolute invisibility, amidst fear, a personal downfall and the death of the emotions, once having lost all family bonds and contact networks.’
