Mrs. Maria lives on the street and in the summer she looks for the shade of some banana trees in a square. She likes to tell stories to birds and on rainy days she makes a blanket with a bath curtain to prtotect herself from getting wet. Animals are the only living beings that she can share memories and warmth with. One day Ennatu hears a strange cry in the park and decides to find out where it comes from.
“In big cities there are people who don’t have a home. They spend their hours on the streets and, when it gets dark, they look for a place to sleep with the sky as their only roof. We often watch them with reluctance. The unbiased point of view of a girl helps us look beyond, breaking with the initial reservations that we can have towards these people,” Ferran Busquets, Arrels Foundation’s director.
The book has been written and illustrated by Cesc Noguera and Raül Gesalí and published by Editorial Takatuka.
