More than 6,000 children and young people come to Arrels every year to learn about the problem of homelessness and break down prejudices, with the help of volunteers and people who have lived on the street.
Our educational proposal follows the methodology of learning and service with a transformative approach. After previously making a reflection and a meeting with Arrels, we use the potential of the experience so that children and young people can get involved to improve the environment through a series of participatory projects.
If you are an educational center, an esplai or an organized group of children and youth, we can explain to you how to get involved!
From this short story, we will think about the roots that sustain us and the reasons that can lead someone to live in the street; and we will make proposals on how to get involved.

‘Do they live on the street because they want to?’ is a photographic exhibition that we can temporarily lend you to raise awareness in your educational community and make homeless people visible.
We will talk about the problem of homelessness, the work of Arrels, the causes that lead someone to the street and how to get involved to improve the situation. The talks are led by volunteers and, whenever possible, by people who have lived on the street.
We will go for a walk through Ciutat Vella with a person who has lived on the street, accompanied by an Arrels volunteer. The objective will be to get closer to their history, break down prejudices, and deepen our understanding of the problem, while visiting the #Visibles murals.
If you are foreign students, walk around Ciutat Vella hand in hand with Hans, who has lived two years in the street and you will discover the places that have marked his experience and initiatives that make possible #nobodysleepingonthestreet.

We propose you to elaborate an artistic mural on the facade of your center, full of different roses with wishes and ideas to make #nobodysleepingonthestreet possible. See the video on how to make your handmade roses.
We also invite you to organize a solidarity action to give financial support to Arrels: sale of roses, second-hand books or Arrels products that we can give you in deposit.
Every month we have a virtual meeting with students who are doing assignments and other interested people, to answer questions and doubts about the problems of homeless people and the work of Arrels.
